In preparation for the 2020 Legislative Session we are encouraging NYSVMS members to visit their legislators in their district offices. There are several critical issues coming up in the next legislative session and we need to make sure that key legislators have heard from their constituent veterinarians.
We have highlighted some who are particularly influential on veterinary issues and we want to make sure these receive visits in their district office from veterinarians in their voting district. However even if your legislator is not on this list you could also visit them.
Here are the steps to follow:
ONLY do this for a legislator who is in your voting district.1. Find your legislator using the links below
Find my Senator
Find my Assembly member2. Call their DISTRICT office, or email to setup a visit. (You will find that you are very welcome, they like to hear from their local constituents).
Say that "I am a veterinarian, a member of NYSVMS, and a constituent, and would like to come in to discuss our legislative efforts"
3. Download the
Talking points document. Print a copy of our
leave-behind document.
4. After the visit -
return to this site and leave a note about your experience. This is a VERY important step.
(You may need to follow the steps to "Join GRLN")
